Chabad of Kenosha challah bake brings community together for remembrance during Sukkot

C.Garcia8 hr ago

Members of the Chabad of Kenosha celebrated the annual weeklong Sukkot holiday, with a "challah community bake" Oct. 20 observing the season of harvest while commemorating the divine protection offered the children of Israel as they fled Egypt.

Participants made challah, the traditional braided Jewish bread, at designated stations during the event.

Participants performed the rituals of the holiday, praying for the release of hostages and the safety of soldiers and the memory of those who died in the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israel. Sukkot was observed from Oct. 16-23 this year following Yom Kippur, day of atonement, on Oct. 11-12.
