SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A popular public safety app has made its way to Central New York. Citizen, a real-time safety app, is now available for Syracuse residents providing instant updates on local incidents directly to smart devices.

Citizen's expansion into Syracuse is part of a large rollout that now covers 46 cities across the United States. With it's main focus as accessibility, this app delivers fast and interactive information to keep neighborhoods safe and connected.

The Citizen uses data from public sources and its user's content to send alerts about traffic accidents, police activity, severe weather, and missing persons. Users can view a live map with current incidents and receive notifications that are tailored to their location.

In addition to the app's basic features, Citizen also offers a premium service that is subscription-based connecting users with trained safety agents who are available 24/7. These agents provide services to support and offer guidance during an incident.

This is an IOS and Android user friend app that is free to download.
