City of Richmond Hill monitoring riverine flooding

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) – The City of Richmond Hill continues to monitor low-lying areas seeing rising water levels.

The city announced on Facebook that officials are continuing to watch neighborhoods being affected by the floodwaters, a result of recent heavy rainfall. Rising river levels are the greatest concern, and are also causing street ponding.

In their efforts, the city has water pumps ready to be activated as soon as the water level is high enough for them to operate effectively. There are also sandbags available for residents at the former Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) lot located on Timber Trail.

Sand is already onsite, but residents are asked to provide a shovel.

Richmond Hill urges residents to move vehicles to higher ground to avoid water and to be mindful of road conditions.
