Cleveland recognizes Veterans Day

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The City of Cleveland will recognize Veterans Day with a ceremony at the City Hall Rotunda, a parade and a Veterans Resource Fair. Before the parade steps off at 12:30 p.m. from Cleveland City Hall, four men will be honored for their service. Two of the honorees are Northeast Ohio police officers killed in the line of duty this year. Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter was fatally shot on July 4 in the 1500 block of 80th Street.Officer Jamieson Ritter Euclid Police Officer Jacob Derbin was killed on May 11 after a gunman ambushed him during a domestic dispute call. after killing of Euclid Police Officer Jacob Derbin Judge Andrew J. Santoli will be recognized for his work with the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Veterans Treatment Court and Derek Moore, a United States Air Force veteran, will be recognized for his work with the Cleveland Municipal Court Veterans Treatment Court. Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb also announced the city's first Veterans Liaison. Edwin Parris, an Army veteran, will be collaborating with grassroots organizations and community members, ensuring veterans' access to housing, healthcare, and employment. And, the third annual Veterans Resource Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Estabrook Recreational Center, 4125 Fulton Rd. The fair features over 40 vendors, resources, refreshments and giveways.
