College football connection: NDGP's Garrido draws league honors after Lehigh's blowout win

Lehigh University kicker Nick Garrido was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week for his contributions to the Mountain Hawks' 43-6 win at Georgetown on Saturday. The junior from Notre Dame High School totaled 10 points by connecting on field goals of 29 and 30 yards and being perfect on four PATs. This season, Garrido is 29-for-30 kicking PATs and 4-for-5 on field goal tries with a long of 41 yards.

Also for Lehigh, which will play at Holy Cross this weekend in a battle for first place in the Patriot League, Andrew Sharga (Northampton) started at defensive end, QB Matt Machalik (Palmerton) was 1-for-1 for 1 yard passing and rushed for 1 yard and OL Sammy Ayache (Bethlehem Catholic) and OL Colby Reph (Northampton) saw action.

Ethan Hosak (Central Catholic) caught an 8-yard touchdown pass and finished with 2 receptions for 16 yards and WR Mason Kuehner (Nazareth) posted a career-high 7 catches for 54 yards for Lafayette in a 21-14 loss at Bucknell. TE Dallas Holmes (Liberty) started and caught 2 passes for 4 yards, Sean Wilson (Easton) and Sean Kinney (Nazareth) started on the offensive line and RB Kente Edwards (North Hunterdon) played for the Leopards. OL D.K. Kim (Central Catholic) and TE Christian Spugnardi (Central Catholic) played for Bucknell.

Starting S Jameel Sanders (Emmaus) led Florida A&M with 7 tackles, including 3 for loss, in a 52-28 Homecoming triumph over Texas Southern.

Anthony Harris (Nazareth) completed 4 of 8 passes for 21 yards and ran 3 times for 11 yards as Maine stepped up a division in a 59-14 loss at Oklahoma. RB Tavion Banks (Bethlehem Catholic) gained 5 yards on 3 carries and caught a 4-yard pass for the Black Bears.

Sone Ntoh (Emmaus) scored two more rushing TDs on carries of 7 and 2 yards and finished with 9 yards on 7 attempts in Monmouth's 37-28 loss at No. 11 Rhode Island.

Jared Richardson (Bethlehem Catholic) caught a team-high 7 passes for 113 yards and a 10-yard score for Penn in a 38-28 win at Brown.

Damian Tyminski (Pen Argyl) made his collegiate debut with a 4-yard run and LB Caden Henritzy (Northampton) collected 3 tackles for Stonehill in a 34-0 defeat at Saint Francis.

Jordan Nelson (Palmerton) and DB Christian Sapp (East Stroudsburg South) both played for No. 11 Villanova in a 20-14 win at Hampton.

Matt Clark (Easton) played for No. 25 Duquesne in a 31-24 win over Mercyhurst.

Nate Palanica (Bethlehem Catholic) contributed a tackle for Merrimack in a 6-0 loss at Robert Morris.

Ryan Joyce (Hunterdon Central) started on the offensive line in Fordham's 20-14 victory over Colgate.

Division IIIJesse Ruisch (Parkland) compiled 16 tackles, including 10 solos, to help No. 6 Susquehanna pull away from Moravian 49-34 in a meeting of the only remaining teams with unbeaten records in the Landmark Conference. Ruisch, a junior, added 3 pass breakups, and his 16 tackles were the most by a Susquehanna player this season. DB Andrew Wells (Nazareth) made 4 tackles with a pass breakup and DE Tim Pherson (Phillipsburg) registered 6 tackles with a sack and QB hurry. Christian Colasurdo (Southern Lehigh) punted twice for a 42-yard average and WR Frankie Mroz (Nazareth) played for the 8-1 River Hawks, which clinched a share of the conference crown.

Moravian QB Jared Jenkins (Freedom) completed 35 of 57 passes – both career highs – for 299 yards and touchdowns of 2, 16, 3, 6 and 3 yards. He rushed for 40 yards on 14 carries along with a two-point conversion. Jenkins now holds the school record for career TD passes with 54. WR Josh Ludlow (Notre Dame) caught 3 passes for 37 yards and returned a kickoff for 17 yards, WR Avery Koser (Southern Lehigh) caught 9 passes for 51 yards and rushed once for 1 yard and RB Isiah Rico (Parkland) had 4 catches for 37 yards.

Also for Moravian, RB Camron Tinajero (Jim Thorpe) ran for 20 yards on 3 attempts and caught 2 passes for 18 yards, RB Jed Bendekovits (Nazareth) gained 9 yards on 2 carries and caught a 4-yard pass, WR Ryan Frinzi (Notre Dame) had a 4-yard run and RB Jacob Sutton (Bethlehem Catholic) returned 2 kickoffs for 47 yards. Brandon Guffy (Notre Dame), Mason Ludlow (Notre Dame) and Jake Englehart (Nazareth) started on the offensive line.

Defensively, LB Clay Basile (Bethlehem Catholic) made 4 tackles, DB Chad Newhard (Emmaus) recorded 3 tackles and a pass breakup, LB Chris Cacace (East Stroudsburg South) had 3 tackles and returned an interception 11 yards, DB Elijah Fajardo (Emmaus), LB Ethan O'Neill (Notre Dame) and DL Logan Arteaga (Hunterdon Central) each made 2 tackles and OL Dalton Kucher (Bethlehem Catholic) had a tackle. NT Nathan Carr (Palisades) started and WR Bryan Monge (Parkland) and LB Jeremiah Espinosa (Freedom) played for the Greyhounds, which were the first team to hold a halftime lead (20-14) against Susquehanna this season.

Tim Buda (Salisbury) caught a team-high 7 passes for 72 yards and LB Peyton Elliott (Central Catholic) led Muhlenberg with 11 tackles in a 26-13 loss at No. 21 Johns Hopkins. WR Andrew Darno (Notre Dame) had 2 receptions for 9 yards and Connor Fenstermaker (Whitehall) averaged 60.7 yards for 3 kickoffs and made 1 of 2 PATs. NT Alex Schaffer (Southern Lehigh) made 4 tackles, DE Andrew Franklin (North Hunterdon) had 3 tackles with a sack, DE Blaze Curry (Southern Lehigh) tallied 2 tackles with sack and QB Luke Spang (Parkland), LB Connor Neith (Pakrland), LB Dante Mahaffey (Saucon Valley), LB John Roeder (Freedom) and TE Jordan Kiley (Phillipsburg) played for the Mules. Aidan Hutchison (Easton) rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries and caught a 20-yard pass and QB Ty Tremba (Parkland) completed a 7-yard pass and rushed once for 2 yards in Franklin & Marshall's 34-14 victory at Kean. LB Jacob Hille (Phillipsburg) made 5 tackles with a sack, Connor Hille (Phillipsburg) made 4 tackles with a sack, DB Nick Medlar (Parkland) recorded 2 tackles and DB Kyle Evancho (Easton) had a tackle for F&M. WR Christian Bujno (Hackettstown) led Kean with 3 catches for 40 yards.

Jared Reto (Bangor) stepped up with 9 tackles, a sack, a blocked kick and a 23-yard interception return as King's defeated Delaware Valley 14-6 to clinch a share of the Middle Atlantic Conference title and the conference's automatic NCAA playoff bid. Liam Carroll (Notre Dame) and Kaleb Beers (Parkland) started on the offensive line, Delaney Hilferty (Palisades) kicked 2 PATs and OL Marko Galetovic (Parkland) played for the Monarchs, who improved to 7-1 overall and 7-0 in the MAC. WR Luan Avdijaj (Parkland) caught an 8-yard pass, rushed once for 1 yard and returned 2 punts for Delaware Valley.

Dalton Wickel (Whitehall) led Widener with 82 yards on 21 carries and caught a 2-yard pass in a 24-21 victory at Lebanon Valley. LB Luke Shimko (Central Catholic) returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown and made 3 tackles, S Elijah Benton (Easton) had 2 tackles with a pass breakup, WR Alistair Stewart-Smith (Central Catholic) made a tackle and OL Ifeanji Ekulide (Delaware Valley) played for the Pride. QB Tanner Lewis (Parkland) rushed 4 times for 16 yards and a 2-yard TD and completed 2 of 4 passes for 5 yards for Lebanon Valley.

Tommy Coury (Phillipsburg) led Carnegie Mellon with 8 tackles and his twin brother Bobby Coury (Phillipsburg) was next with 7 tackles and a sack as the No. 16 Tartans extended their home winning streak to 22 games with a 45-20 victory over Westminster.

Will Fish (East Stroudsburg South) was 2-for-3 for 37 yards passing and OL Tyler Vandever (Pleasant Valley) played for Lycoming in a 45-0 victory at Juniata. WR Quintin Stephens (Salisbury) had 3 catches for 38 yards and OL Carl Dyer (Salisbury) played for Juniata.

Ty Csencsits (Saucon Valley) started and caught a 36-yard touchdown pass for Worcester Polytechnic Institute in a 35-14 win at Coast Guard. OL Ben Bartholomew (Liberty) played for Coast Guard.

Sam Moratori (Emmaus) made 8 tackles with a pass breakup for Albright in a 22-19 win over Alvernia in the Battle of Reading.

Nathan Saccal (Delaware Valley) started and contributed 2 tackles in FDU Florham's 34-19 triumph at Stevenson. DL Ibrahim Dail (Easton) made a tackle for Stevenson.

Connor Carter (Emmaus) had 5 tackles, a sack and a QB hurry, TE Tyler Houser (Southern Lehigh) caught a 1-yard pass and DB Kendall Robinson (Palmerton) played for Ursinus in a 42-0 win at McDaniel.

Angelo Fluri (North Warren) gained 22 yards on 10 carries and made a tackle and Connor McLaughlin (Liberty) kicked a 25-yard field goal and a PAT and averaged 26 yards for 2 kickoffs for Misericordia in a 31-10 loss at Eastern. FB Brayden Curry (Freedom) played for Eastern.

Reese Karp (Pen Argyl) had 2 catches for 23 yards with a 15-yard touchdown in Keystone's 42-24 loss at Catholic.

Ryan Hinman (South Hunterdon) caught a 17-yard pass and DL Hunter Vos (North Hunterdon) made 6 tackles for Hobart in a 27-21 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Andrew Carida (Hackettstown) gained 8 yards on 3 carries for Rowan in a 16-10 win over Montclair State.

Marcus Kreidler (Freedom) played in Middlebury's 35-0 victory over Hamilton.

Bode Dunn (South Hunterdon) rushed for 14 yards and a 6-yard touchdown on 3 carries and returned a kickoff 6 yards in Springfield's 56-14 win over Norwich. DB Will Aviles (Bethlehem Catholic) made 2 tackles and OL Mekhi George (Bethlehem Catholic) played for 8-0 Springfield where Freedom's Vince Reph is a graduate assistant coach working with the wide receivers.

Cole Gray (Hunterdon Central) played in No. 13 Grove City's 51-0 win over Waynesburg.

Garrett Swayhoover (South Hunterdon) made a tackle for Western New England in a 49-42 overtime win victory over Husson.

Jacob Cordon (Whitehall) played for Thiel in a 20-10 triumph over Saint Vincent.

Division I FBSTyler Pastula (Easton) was named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week after averaging a career-best 50.2 yards for his 4 punts in San Diego State's 56-24 loss at No. 12 Boise State. Among his punts was a 79-yarder, which ties for the longest in FBS this season and the sixth-longest in school history. Pastula leads the Mountain West Conference with 233.75 punting yards per game.

Mario Landino (Emmaus) contributed 2 tackles as 9-0 Indiana moved up five spots to No. 8 in this week's AP Top 25 with a 47-10 victory at Michigan State.

Jalen Stewart (Freedom) registered 7 tackles with 1.5 sacks and a QB hurry for Massachusetts in a 45-20 loss at Mississippi State.

Tadd Barr (Pen Argyl) caught a 13-yard pass in Buffalo's 41-30 win at Akron.

Braelin Moore (Freedom) started at center and his older brother Kaden Moore (Freedom) started at right guard for Virginia Tech in a 38-31 overtime loss to Syracuse.

George Eberle (Voorhees) punted 5 times for a 44.8-yard average and placed 4 punts inside the 20 for New Mexico State in a 34-13 loss at Florida International. Charlie Eberle (Voorhees) was the Aggies' long snapper.

Nick Dawkins (Parkland) started at center and RB Tyler Holzworth (Delaware Valley) played on special teams in No. 6 Penn State's 20-13 defeat to No. 2 Ohio State.

Division II Have a day John Siggins! The senior wide receiver from Parkland rolled up the second-most receiving yards in East Stroudsburg history when he caught 8 passes for 239 yards in a 45-0 blanking at Shippensburg. He recorded a school-record 205 yards just in the first half. Siggins singed Shippensburg's secondary for scoring receptions of 37, 89, 19 and 16 yards. Not surprisingly, the PSAC's leader in TD catches with 8 was the East Division's Offensive Player of the Week.

Tyrese Brandon (Northampton) backed Siggins with 3 catches for 110 yards and 3 rushes for 27 yards. RB Deante Crawford (Freedom) added 8 rushes for 19 yards and a 2-yard TD. Guy Gilyard (Pocono Mountain West) started on the offense line, DL Juan Feliciano (Freedom) made 2 tackles, WR Benny Pembleton (Stroudsburg) caught 2 passes for 10 yards and WR Bryce Bashore (Whitehall), QB Jake Fotta (Emmaus) and WR Cade Christopher (Northwestern) played for the Warriors, who checked in at No. 6 in the NCAA Division II Super Region 1 rankings.

Karim Brice (Liberty) started and had 2 catches for 13 yards and DL Peter Diaz (Easton) played for Shippensburg.

David Awuah (Bethlehem Catholic) was second in tackles for Seton Hill with 9 stops in a 24-22 loss at Edinboro.

Izzy Ramos (Bethlehem Catholic) collected 5 tackles and DB Troy Miller (Bethlehem Catholic) added 2 stops in Lock Haven's 27-16 loss at West Chester. Donovan Jones (East Stroudsburg South) started on the offensive line and LS Mitchell Miller (Central Catholic) played for Lock Haven. WR Zack Gillen (Wilson) and RB Jayden Williams (Central Catholic) played for West Chester.

Ben Ries (Phillipsburg), DB Eric Striba (Bangor) and DB Nick Frame (Northern Lehigh) played for Bloomsburg in a 27-21 overtime win at Shepherd.

Decker McNally (Hunterdon Central) punted twice for a 34-yard average in Pace's 35-30 loss at Southern Connecticut State.
