Commanders vs Cowboys Thanksgiving Eve Injury Report: Three players ruled out
E.Wilson3 months ago
The Washington Commanders held a walkthrough yesterday with an estimated injury report. They returned for another light practice in the bubble today after Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants. They are preparing on a short week to face the Cowboys in Dallas on Thanksgiving. This will be their first meeting this season, and their second time facing QB Sam Howell. Washington made several roster moves this week. Efe Obada had surgeries to repair leg(tibia/fibula) injuries, and he has been placed on season-ending IR . The Commanders signed DE Jalen Harris from the Chicago Bears practice squad, and could also elevate Joshua Pryor from their practice squad again for more defensive line depth. James Smith-Williams has still not been on the field since injuring his hamstring vs the Seahawks two weeks ago. Washington will have Casey Toohill at DE with rookies KJ Henry and Andre Jones behind him. FB/TE Alex Armah also suffered a hamstring injury two weeks ago, and continues to miss practice. Washington elevated RB Derrick Gore from the practice squad and moved Chris Rodriguez to the #2 RB role. Rodriguez and starter Brian Robinson both had fumbles, but only Rodriguez’s led to a turnover. Antonio Gibson didn’t practice or play last week due to a toe injury, but was back on the field today doing individual drills. Washington was hoping to have him available vs the Giants, but his toe didn’t respond during the week, and he was inactive. Gibson could make his return on Thanksgiving. Three more Washington defenders didn’t practice as they deal with injuries. CB Emmanuel Forbes suffered an elbow injury vs the Giants, and and was out again. Backup linebackers Khaleke Hudson(back) and De’Jon Harris(quad) were also absent. Rookie DB Quan Martin was limited with a shoulder injury. Ron Rivera told reporters that LB Cody Barton would be activated from injured reserve tomorrow. The team opened his 21-day practice window yesterday, and Rivera said he was ready to return.
