Cell phone collection. Abington Heights High School Students Against Destructive Decisions is collecting cell phones. The collected phones will be refurbished for use by the elderly. The Lackawanna Historical Society’s Civil War Roundtable meetings, at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Catlin House, 232 Monroe Ave., Scranton. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the Civil War era, 1861-1865. Annual dues: $20 for individuals and $25 for families. Reservations are required. The University of Scranton’s Weinberg Memorial Library seeks book donations and volunteers. The library is requesting book and tag sale donations for its annual spring sale, as well as volunteers to help with preparation and staffing for the event. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the Weinberg Memorial Library Endowment. Accepted are: any hardcover or paperback books in good condition, including children’s books, cookbooks, fiction and non-fiction, as well as media and tag sale items. Donations may be placed in the boxes on the Monroe Ave. side of the library until Wednesday, April 22. Olaf raffle: Enter a chance raffle at Abington Community Library to receive a personalized, pre-recorded message from Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf from the movie “Frozen.” Tickets are $1 each and proceeds will be used to purchase children’s books for the library. Anyone may enter, but it must be on behalf of a child under 12 years of age. A winner will be drawn and notified during National Library Week, April 12-18.

The Keystone College Thomas G. Items that will not be picked up include: Regular household trash, recyclables, grass or leaves, non-compatible items such as brick, block and concrete, cast iron, auto parts, tires, batteries, motor oil or lubricants, non-water base paint and lacquers and stains (dried up water base paint cans okay), paint thinners or turpentine, pesticides, hazardous, noxious, caustic, or acid chemicals, asbestos, metal drums, propane tanks, oil or gas containing items, explosives of any type including gun loading materials and electronics. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must be certified Freon free with a tag containing the technicians ID number and dated.
