Community for patience, awareness at climbing gym during winter
JACKSON, Wyo. — According to Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation (Parks & Rec), climbing gym users should be aware of capacity limitations this winter and manage expectations for user access during peak hours.
In a press release last week, Parks & Rec provided an update that, while summer proved to be sustainable without operational intervention to manage user capacity, the past week of winter-like weather has encouraged many to seek the climbing gym, among other indoor activities. With increased demand in user access, Parks & Rec is seeing increased capacity and risk management challenges that staff is working to accommodate while allowing as many users as safely possible.
"As a result, there may be times when individuals or groups will be required to wait in the lobby until there is space in the facility to enter," Parks & Rec wrote. "Those waiting in the lobby should be respectful of the facility and operations team, and to enter through the check-in desk at the climbing gym."
Parks & Rec recommends visiting the climbing gym prior to 3 p.m., when it tends to be less busy, to help with capacity challenges and minimize waiting periods. The climbing gym typically reaches maximum capacity from 5 p.m. until close.
Parks & Rec states their main priority is to manage risk and guest wellbeing; belay tests are not guaranteed and will become less available or not available during hours of high capacity and/or while programming is taking place in the facility.
