Complimentary Christmas streetcar takes riders to 5 Santa-approved Michigan stops

DETROIT - You can hop on board an old streetcar, which has been decked-out for the holidays, and head to some Michigan holiday destinations.

The Holly Trolley begins taking passengers to five different Santa-approved stops in downtown Detroit on Friday, November 8.

The free transportation service, provided by Bedrock, runs Fridays from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Saturdays from Noon - 8 p.m. and Sundays from Noon - 6 p.m.

Downtown Detroit if full of free holiday attractions and this is a festive way to get to some of them.

"What's so great about the Holly Trolley is that there's so much to do downtown. Coming to Detroit is not just a one-stop-shop," said Lauren Shields-Nunn with Bedrock.

Just hop on board the trolley and enjoy your free ride. The five stops are:

  • Capital Park (Downtown Detroit Markets and Cadillac Lodge)
  • The Book Tower hotel
  • Parker's Alley (Shinola Hotel, Greektown)
  • Foxtown (Comerica Park, Ford Field, LCA, Fox Theatre)
  • Campus Martius Park (Ice skating rink, Detroit Christmas tree, 1001 Winter Wonders - a free indoor Christmas walkthrough running Nov. 14 - Dec. 24)
  • "There's so much to see and do in downtown Detroit," David Cowan, Chief Public Spaces Officer of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, told MLive. "Horse and carriage rides will also begin soon. There's so many incredible ways here to make memories with your family."

    The Holly Trolley departs approximately every 15 minutes at each stop.
