Road Closures, Detours Expected Around LIRR Babylon Station Motorists are advised of road closures and detours around Long Island Railroad's Babylon Station over the weekend, officials say.

BABYLON VILLAGE, NY —As renovations continue at the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon Village station road closures and detours are slated for the weekend, village officials announced Friday.

N. Carll Avenue, between Sammis Avenue and Railroad Avenue, will be closed from 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, to 7 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, village officials said in a statement.

In a Facebook post, village officials advised northbound traffic to use Railroad Avenue to Colt Avenue and Sammis Avenue.

Officials stated that southbound traffic from Deer Park Avenue should use Railroad Avenue while motorists from Sammis Avenue should use Colt Avenue to Park Avenue and Deer Park Avenue.

In September, Patch reported that the Babylon Village station will be undergoing renovations for around two years.

The 12-car platform station accommodates around 5,000 riders daily and will become fully accessible to all after numerous upgrades per the Americans with Disabilities Act, the MTA said in a statement.

Upgrades include new elevators, escalators, lighting, reconfiguration of parking, refurbished platforms and waiting rooms, new security systems, and an automated snow and ice melting system.

Construction on the station began in mid-September and is expected to be completed in December of 2026. Babylon is one of three stations in LIRR ADA Package 2, which also includes Forest Hills and Hollis stations.
