DENVER (KDVR) — Residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood are trying to figure out why several garage doors were smashed at various condominium buildings.

FOX31 found several of the smashed doors near just one street corner. At least 5 different garage doors are either heavily damaged or destroyed altogether.

Each was at the entrance of parking garages belonging to multi-level condominium-type buildings in Cap Hill. The doors FOX31 found were in a small area along Washington and Pearl Streets near 8th Avenue.

"I was rather surprised about that, but things happen. We got security cameras, but I don't know if they are following up on any of those videos or not," said resident David Flesher.

Management at two of the buildings told FOX31 they are reviewing their cameras and talking to Denver police.

A resident told FOX31 the doors were damaged this past weekend.

"I don't understand. I mean why would you do that? I mean ramming it into something. You gotta be quick. It does cause a lot of noise," Fred Kitzmiller said.

Many people are trying to figure out what the vandals were after.

"And then I hear it's all over the neighborhood and it's like OK, what does this mean?" One building manager said.

Some people believe thieves could come back after the doors are removed. One building took quick action, to make sure that didn't happen, by boarding up the garage's entrance.

Denver police said they are investigating the incidents but so far no arrests have been made.
