Conor Oberst, Bright Eyes cancel Sunday concert in Omaha

Bright Eyes , fronted by Omaha native Conor Oberst, has canceled its Sunday show at Steelhouse.

The show was to have been the third stop on a major tour supporting the Friday release of the group's first album in four years, "Five Dice, All Threes."

"The warm-up shows we played earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice, and, on the advice of doctors, we've made the difficult but sensible decision to prioritize rest and recuperation for the rest of the month," group members said on Facebook and other social media.

Bright Eyes also includes producer Mike Mogis and trumpet player and pianist Nate Walcott. Oberst formed the indie group in Omaha in 1995, initially as a solo act.

New York was the first city on the tour, which was to begin Thursday night. Another show was set for Chicago on Saturday. The group's Facebook announcement said they were working to reschedule the first three shows on the tour and would keep fans informed about new dates. Refunds will be available at the point of sale.

The tour, which is set to run through the end of April, includes cities across the U.S. as well as stops in the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Oberst owns Pageturners Lounge in Omaha's Dundee neighborhood and was a founding member of the local indie label Saddle Creek Records. He graduated from Creighton Prep.

"Five Dice, All Threes" is the 10th album for Bright Eyes.
