How to appeal FEMA flood assistance decision
VIRGINIA — Homeowners and renters who applied for Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance after flooding and severe storms June 16 to July 4 may appeal FEMA's decision if they disagree.
Residents in St. Louis, Cook, Itasca and Lake counties who have underinsured damage and apply for assistance will receive a decision via email or mail explaining whether they are approved and for how much money, FEMA said in a news release.
Assistance may be received for housing; home repair or replacement; and coverage for other disaster-related expenses, such as moving and storage, primary vehicle repair or replacement, damaged furniture and appliances (including furnace, water heater and HVAC), and child care.
Recipients who disagree with FEMA's decision have 60 days from the date of their letter to appeal. The letter explains what documents or other information is needed for the appeal process.
Severe flooding prompted the action, which covers 22 counties in northern and southern Minnesota. How to appeal

Tags By Staff reports Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story. Conversation What To Read Next Get Local
