Cool nights ahead for South Florida. Will it again drop to the 50s?
You can expect more cool nights early next week in South Florida, with overnight lows reaching the 60s. And if another cold front were to sweep through, as expected, we could see overnight temperatures drop to the 50s later next week.
Monday night’s lows will dip to the upper 60s. And it could get cooler Tuesday night, with the lows reaching around 63, according to the National Weather Service. That means residents — especially those who live in the inland suburban areas — may wake up to a cooler morning Wednesday, with projected temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s, said Sammy Hadi, a weather service meteorologist.
The overnight lows are forecast to continue until next Friday, with low temperatures in the 50s and high temperatures in the low- to mid-70s. The cool weather would follow a nearly identical trend to the cooler weather South Floridians enjoyed this week .
Is the expected cold front guaranteed to arrive? Not necessarily. “We’ve seen it happen many times where a cold front looks like it’s coming a certain day, and then it gets delayed,” he said.
January and February are typically the coldest months, Hadi said, so the region likely has yet to see its coldest days.
And while most welcome the cooler temperatures, some, like Hadi, find it almost too cold. “I put the heater on,” he said.
