Country music star planning to leave industry to go into ministry

When it comes to country music stars there is no question that Oliver Anthony is different.

The guy just, kind of, stays out of the limelight, and he has remained an independent artist after making a splash with the August 2023 release of "Rich Men North of Richmond." And now, he says he is looking to get out of the industry altogether.

  • The 32-year-old made the revelation while replaying to a fan on a recent video he shared to social media.

    A fan commented that Anthony, whose real name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford, was "everything that is right in the music industry."

    Anthony responded, "I'm in the process of getting out of the music industry. It's a big joke."

  • Anthony clarified that he plans to still make music, but he said he intends to focus on traveling ministry work.

    "It's all part of this Rural Revival thing," he wrote. "I just have to go at it in baby steps since it's completely DIY.

    "I'll still be releasing music just like normal," he added. "I'll just be set up legally as a ministry."

    The Farmville, Virginia native has kept a pretty low profile even as the appreciation for his talent has taken off so it will be interesting to see how his plan plays out.
