ST. LOUIS – It's become a hot tax freeze as thousands of St. Louis County homeowners have already applied for the property tax freeze, but it's not too late. On Wednesday, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page is set to provide updates on the senior property tax freeze in the county.

The tax freeze has seen a tremendous response since applications became available on Oct. 1. The main county building on South Central is where Page is set to speak Wednesday morning, and it's also one of the places where people can apply in person for the program.

Seniors can apply in person for the freeze or online. One week into the process, back on Oct. 7, the county released information saying it had received more than 10,800 applications for the freeze. More than 9,200 of those applications had been submitted online.

To qualify, you have to be at least 62 years old and own your property by the end of this year. The property you are applying for has to be your main residence, and properties owned by a business or corporation do not qualify.

You can apply in person at four different locations: the County Government Headquarters at 41 South Central Avenue, Northwest Crossing at 715 Northwest Plaza Drive in St. Ann, in South County at 4546 Lemay Ferry Road, and in West County at 74 Clarkson Wilson Center in Chesterfield.

The county will not accept mailed or dropped-off paper applications, and only one member per household needs to apply. The deadline to apply for the first year of the program is June 30, 2025. County officials expect 100,000 people to apply by that deadline.
