Eureka football steamrolls Tremont to improve to 7-0

TREMONT — Eureka amassed 426 yards of total offense in a 46-14 football high school victory over Heart of Central Illinois Conference large division host Tremont on Friday evening at Poorbaugh Field.

The Hornets (7-0, 5-0) raced to a 20-0 lead. Two of Austin Gerber's three pass completions resulted in touchdowns to Tory Kupferschmid (65 yards) and Lance Wiegand (67 yards). His other completion netted 35 yards to Kupferschmid. Gerber also ran for a score.

Owen Stoller (11 carries, 78 yards) found the end zone twice, as did Ben Lapp (lone carry of 60 yards) and Tanner Wiegand. Eureka rolled up 259 rushing yards.

Stoller recorded a team-high eight tackles, while T. Wiegand (interception) had seven. L. Wiegand also had an interception. The guests turned both picks into points, as the first led to the Lapp TD and the other resulted in Stoller's first score from a yard out.
