Deadly four-vehicle crash closes I-81 in Dauphin County

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A deadly multi-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers closed a stretch of Interstate 81 in Dauphin County Thursday morning.

According to a spokesperson from PennDOT, the crash, which involved four vehicles total, occurred at 2:40 a.m. at Mile Marker 84.8 on I-81 near Grantville. All lanes are currently closed and are estimated to reopen around 11:30 a.m.

PennDOT says the crash involved two tractor-trailers, one carrying beer and the other carrying fertilizer, and two passenger vehicles. One person is confirmed dead.

The conditions of the other victims are unknown at this time.

The lane closure stretches to the Fort Indiantown gap area.

Drivers are encouraged to check roadway conditions and updates online to avoid delays during their morning commutes.
