Sports Deion Sanders, Colorado Face Backlash Following Top 25 Upset

Although Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes didn't play Friday night, they still found themselves in the spotlight, facing sharp criticism following Nebraska's overtime loss to Illinois.

Nebraska, ranked No. 22, entered the matchup as a 9.5-point favorite, per ESPN BET. But No. 24 Illinois was able to capitalize in overtime, taking down the Cornhuskers on the road.

Nebraska handled Colorado 28-10 in Week 2, and their recent loss to Illinois has only amplified the criticism surrounding Sanders and his team for that defeat.

"Nebraska loses, all that means to me is that my statement of Colorado being a-, is 100% factual," one fan said .

"People were way over their skis with Nebraska after that Colorado game. Colorado has 1 great player, an ok QB and one hell of a marketing department. They are a s-t football team & people overvalued that win," another said .

Nebraska faced its share of trolling after the loss too, especially given the hype surrounding the program following their 3-0 start. Nebraska has dropped 25 straight games to Top 25 teams since 2016.

"I thought Nebraska was going to be 7-0 going into Ohio State?!?" another fan said . "The fact that they got ranked after beating Colorado is CRAZY."

Nebraska will look to bounce back next week on the road against Purdue. Sanders and Colorado can change the conversation on Saturday if they beat Baylor at home.
