DENVER ( KDVR ) — Denver voters will decide on 12 ballot measures during the 2024 general election.

The topics range from fur bans to removing the citizenship requirement for police officers and firefighters. An explainer of each question can be found below the results.

Below are explainers for each ballot issue and question in Denver.

Ballot Issue 2Q:

If passed, Ballot Issue 2Q would raise Denver's sales tax by 0.34% , which would raise an estimated $70 million annually to help Denver Health cover the costs of patients who cannot pay their bills.

If Ballot Issue 2Q fails, Denver's sales tax will not increase.

Ballot Issue 2R:

If passed, Ballot Issue 2R would increase Denver's sales and use tax by 0.5% to generate an estimated $100 million annually to pay for affordable housing projects.

If Ballot Issue 2R fails, the sales and use tax will remain at 8.81%.

Referred Question 2S:

If passed, Referred Question 2S would add the Agency of Human Rights and Community Partnerships as a cabinet department.

If Referred Question 2S fails, the agency will not be added to the cabinet.

Referred Question 2T:

If passed, Referred Question 2T would remove the requirement that Denver police officers and firefighters must be United States citizens and allow non-citizens to join the agencies.

If Referred Question 2T fails, those seeking a job as a Denver police officer or firefighter must be a U.S. citizen.

Referred Question 2U:

If passed, Referred Question 2U would allow some Denver workers to participate in collective bargaining and negotiate compensation, working conditions and other terms of employment.

If Referred Question 2U fails, there will be no change to the policy.

Referred Question 2V:

If passed, Referred Question 2V would allow for binding arbitration instead of an advisory fact-finding process when an impasse occurs between the city and the firefighters during collective bargaining.

If Referred Question 2V fails, the Charter of the City and County of Denver will not be amended.

Referred Question 2W:

If passed, Referred Question 2W would remove the requirement that the city council must vote on elected official salaries every four years and instead require local elected official salaries to be set by an ordinance.

If Referred Question 2W fails, the current procedures will be maintained.

Initiated Ordinance 308:

If passed Initiated Ordinance 308 would prohibit the manufacture, distribution, display, sale, or trade of certain animal fur products within city limits.

If Initiated Ordinance 308 fails, it would keep the measure as is and allow the sale of animal fur products.

Initiated Ordinance 309:

If passed, Initiated Ordinance 309 would prohibit the construction, maintenance or use of slaughterhouses in Denver.

If Initiated Ordinance 309 fails, slaughterhouses will remain in Denver.

Ballot Issue 4A:

If passed, Ballot Issue 4A would allow Denver Public Schools to increase its debt by $975 million with a repayment cost of $1.9 billion to finance improvements.

If Ballot Issue 4A fails, Denver Public Schools will not increase its debt.

Ballot Issue 6A:

If passed, Ballot Issue 6A will increase Denver's debt $570 million with a total repayment of no more than $847 million, to finance costs on public facilities.

If Ballot Issue 6A fails, the city's debt will not increase.
