Officials in Denver, Colorado are investigating potential voter fraud after discovering suspicious ballots, according to .

The ballots reportedly displayed "irregularities," such as mismatched signatures. Each of the suspicious voting documents originated from a daycare address and were allegedly sent to multiple counties throughout the state, the publication wrote.

Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul Lopez told The Denver Post the discovery speaks to the effectiveness of the state's election security measures.

"This incident demonstrates how Colorado's multi-layered ballot processing systems have been proven effective in identifying irregularities in voted ballots, assuring voters Colorado elections are safe and accurate," Lopez said.

Neither the Denver Clerk and Recorder's Office nor the Denver District Attorney's Office responded to requests for comment from The National News Desk about the investigation.

Denver isn't alone in facing an Election Day ballot controversy. A ballot printing issue led to voter frustrations in Cambria County, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, forcing the county to extend voting hours.

"We're going to continue to work with the state and ensure that we either get it fixed or we continue to count the votes, and if we have to count by hand then that's what we'll have to do," County Solicitor Ron Repak said. "At the end of the day, we have measures in place to make sure we can take care of this.

Last month, the Department of Homeland Security issued a warning to law enforcement in Washington state and Oregon advising of "threat factors" facing ballot boxes after boxes in Portland, Ore. and Vancouver, Wash. were set on fire.

Also last month, authorities in Phoenix, Arizona arrested a suspect accused of setting a USPS mailbox ablaze. That mailbox contained several completed election ballots.

"There was never any ... information that led us to believe that this was maybe election related or anything like that," Sgt. Rob Scherer of the city fire department's Arson Investigation Taskforce said. "We never got any hint or any detail that told us this might be."
