Devon police seize £2k of suspected drugs in 'proactive' raid

Police who seized £2,000 worth of suspected class A drugs from a property in Devon say such work showed officers were "proactive" in dealing with reports of criminal activity.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers conducted a warrant at an address in Dawlish in October, following public concerns about suspected drug dealing.

Police said a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and was currently on bail while inquiries were ongoing.

Insp Sean Roper, from the neighbourhood police team in Dawlish, said: "This proactive action sends a clear message that we listen to our communities' concerns and take robust action against people committing crime."

The warrant was led by the force's proactive unit and the Teignmouth neighbourhood police team.

"We will continue to carry out proactive work to identify offenders, including warrants, gathering intelligence and conducting patrols," said Insp Roper.

"All information we receive from the public helps us build a picture of crimes happening in our area.

"These reports help us take action, just like this warrant, to pursue criminals causing harm in our community.

"We're listening, and we're acting on your concerns."

Police encouraged anyone with information about illegal activity to contact them directly or report it through Crimestoppers anonymously.
