Dog dumped on Denver street, rescued by owner of surveillance video

DENVER (KDVR) — A dog was kicked out of a car and dumped at a Denver townhome complex, and it was all caught on camera. But there's a happy ending.

FOX31 received a video recorded September 13 in the Virgina Village neighborhood along Monaco Street Parkway. It shows a car door open and a dog gets out onto the street. As the car drives away, the dog follows after it.

"I heard some neighbors outside saying that there was a loose dog," said neighbor Rane Jaresh. "I kind of tried to approach him, he definitely did not let me. I went inside, grabbed some water, grabbed some treats."

After about an hour, Jaresh was able to get a leash around the abandoned dog.

"After that, I got him inside, took some photos of him, posted him online saying I found a dog," said Jaresh. That's when he checked his security camera, which captured the incident.

"It's messed up. There's so many opportunities for someone to take a dog that they don't want to a shelter," Jaresh said. "It's a pretty disgusting video to watch someone drop such a beautiful dog out of a car."

Jaresh says he reached out to animal control, but the dog was not chipped. The license plate number is also not readable from the footage.

But Jaresh has had the dog ever since, naming him Emry, rescuing him into a family of another abandoned Australian Shepherd mix that Jaresh previously adopted, named Bear.

"He's in much better hands than I can assume he was in before," said Jaresh.
