Domestic Battery, Burglary: Elmhurst Cops A man was arrested after striking someone else during an argument, police said.
ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, burglary, damage, retail theft, a DUI and porch piracy. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Domestic battery
A 23-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 800 block of South Kearsage Avenue was arrested about 5 p.m. Sunday at his house on a domestic battery charge. He battered someone else during an argument, police said. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.A piece of jewelry was stolen from a house between Nov. 4 and Nov. 16 in the 800 block of South Poplar Avenue. The house's back door was damaged, with the window shattered. An investigation is pending.Attempted burglary
A resident in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue told police that her alarm company alerted her that her back door was broken about 7 p.m. Thursday. Officers checked the house, and nothing was found missing or disturbed. It does not appear that entry was made into the house. An investigation is pending. A driver told police that he stopped his car about 8:30 p.m. Friday at Lorraine and West avenues. When he proceeded south, a middle-aged man walking two dogs walked into the intersection and yelled something at the driver as he passed. Seconds later, his rear window shattered. Officers could not find the dog walker. An investigation is pending.A woman was waiting inside her car about 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of South Cambridge Avenue when she heard a loud bang and discovered her back window was shattered. She was unsure how it happened. A resident in the 200 block of North Walnut Street told police that a suspect moved out of her home recently. He returned but was not allowed inside shortly before noon Sunday. As he left the property, he damaged the gate and mailbox. A person who became agitated struck and broke a display about 5 p.m. Friday at Old Havana Cigar Shop, 189 E. Butterfield Road. An investigation is pending.Retail theft
A 45-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about 7 p.m. Thursday at Interstate 290 and St. Charles Road on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft and resisting a police officer. Police said she stole numerous alcohol bottles. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.A person was seen on surveillance video stealing merchandise between Sept. 10 and Nov. 14 at Kustom Car Solutions, 469 N. York St. An investigation is pending.A 35-year-old Aurora man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper window tinting and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. He was taken to the police station and then released. A man suffering from a medical condition wandered away from home about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue. He was found shortly after and taken to Elmhurst Hospital.Porch piracy
A package was stolen between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nov. 11 at a home in the 800 block of North York Street. The theft was reported six days later. Abandoned bike
