Donald Heiter Community Center receives 'Chevys for a Cause' donation
Lewisburg, Pa. — The Donald Heiter Community Center (DHCC) was recently honored to receive a $7,500 donation from the proceeds of the "Chevys for a Cause" car show.
The car show was held in May, and despite the event being held on a rainy day, members of the community gathered to check out a dazzling array of Chevrolets from vintage classics to modern trucks and hotrods.
Nick Covino, event founder and organizer, expressed his gratitude for the car show's success: "It's all about community and taking care of kids. Even with the rain, people came out to support and we were able to make a generous donation."
The donation will be used to support DHCC's mission of fostering community connection and youth development through innovative, multi-generational programs. Specifically, the funds will provide nutritious meals and snacks for children, scholarships for families in need, and enriching cultural and educational experiences that help local youth develop vital communication and leadership skills. These programs include DHCC's before and after-school offerings and summer camps.
"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Chevys for a Cause and Fairfield Chevrolet," said Andrea Tufo, Executive Director of DHCC. "This support ensures we can continue making a positive impact on the lives of children and families in our community."
Covino, a Corvette enthusiast, is already looking forward to next year's event and hopes that it will attract even more cars and participation. Fairfield Chevrolet played an essential role in making the event a reality.
"Fairfield Chevrolet was instrumental. It couldn't have happened without them," Covino emphasized.
He also extended special thanks to the event's volunteers, including friends from Wellspan Evangelical Hospital and the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club, who helped staff the event, and to Lewisburg Dunkin' Donuts for providing refreshments.
In addition to Fairfield Chevrolet Cadillac, other sponsors who contributed to the event's success included Black Dog Jewelers, Fairfield Motorsports, Grant's Classic Cars, Miele Manufacturing, and Weigle Trucking. Covino also expressed appreciation for the support of The Crossland Group, Harry's Septic, Haywood's Bar & Grill, Johnson's Auto Body, Kost Tire & Auto, The Repair Shop, and Strong Spas.
Covino also offered heartfelt thanks to Susan Cox, his co-chair and bookkeeper, for her invaluable assistance in coordinating the event.
