Donald Trump won't try to bring divided nation together | Bill Walters
President-elect Donald Trump regularly wraps himself in the flag. He's in love with the Pledge of Allegiance. But he needs to take the time to really understand the pledge - especially where it refers to our nation as "indivisible with liberty and justice for all." All means everyone.
He also loves to compare himself to Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address and described the government of the United States as "of the people, by the people and for the people." No one is excluded. Trump does not get the messaging.
Trump's presidency will start with a deeply divided country. The Kamala Harris camp is now alienated, and Trump will not try to work things out. No art of the deal here. He believes the election gave him a mandate. It's now his way or the highway. No challenge allowed, and no need for compromise.
A Trump personality believes, "To the victor go the spoils." And since he is the winner, losers are expected to just roll into the fold. Father knows best.
Someone once said, "Elections have consequences," referring to political appointments. This time with Trump, the consequences will be political neglect.
