BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Sometimes a friend just can't be trusted, as a DoorDash delivery driver found out the hard way.

At 3:15 p.m. Oct. 11, officers was dispatched to Hotel Indigo, 3581 Park East Drive, where a woman who delivers food for DoorDash reported that her car had been stolen from the hotel lot.

The woman told police that she had been delivering that day since noon while accompanied by a male friend. She said she called the man that day and asked if he wanted to keep her company as she made her deliveries, as he had done in the past.

She then picked him up at his Cleveland residence.

Making her fifth delivery of the day, the woman left the man in her car, with its key, as she went into the hotel to deliver a pizza. When she returned, her car and the man were gone.

The woman, 34, of Cleveland, gave police the man's phone number. When an officer called, however, a male answered and said he was not the suspect and that he didn't want to get involved. He then hung up on the officer.

The stolen Chevrolet Cobalt was leased. The leasing company later tracked the car as being out of state.

On the afternoon of Oct. 14, Beachwood police received a call from police in Wayne, Mich. stating that the car had been found. The keys were not inside the abandoned car.

The woman was told that the car could be picked up at a Wayne towing company's lot.

Police are seeking the suspect.
