Doudna Fine Arts Center announces performances
CHARLESTON — The Doudna Fine Arts Center in Charleston has announced upcoming performances.
Faculty Chamber Concert
EIU's Music Department Presents its Faculty Chamber Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the Recital Hall, featuring EIU faculty members Rebecca Johnson (flute), Rebecca McGuire (oboe), Magie Beck (clarinet), Annie Mason (bassoon), Jessica Pearce (horn), Jim Kim (violin), David Commanday (cello), and Paul Johnston (piano). The program will include music composed and arranged by Paul Johnston, including a new arrangement of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
Percussion ensemble to perform
The Department of Music will present its percussion ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 in the Black Box Theatre, featuring a combination of contemporary and world music from composers such as Perez, Kieffer, Cage, and Daughtrey.
Pianist and composer to perform
Pianist and composer Natasha Stojanovska will perform pieces from her forthcoming album of music by American Women Composers as well as some original works, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the recital hall.
Stojanovska is currently adjunct faculty and collaborative pianist at the University of New Mexico.
Grupo Bella performs
Grupo Bella, a multi-faceted ensemble from the Los Angeles area, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Oct. 26, in the concert hall.
With their use of traditional Mariachi instrumentation this performance will span the music of many different cultures, decades, and various Latin American and American styles.
