Dr. Joan Otten named sole finalist for Early ISD Superintendent

EARLY, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – Early Independent School District has announced Dr. Joan Otten as the sole finalist for the superintendent of the Early ISD.

Otten attended the University of Texas at Tyler, earning her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She then attained her Doctorate at Abilene Christian University.

She has served students in education for more than two decades. Otten began her teaching career by teaching English at Karen's High School and later at Corsicana High School. She has also held positions as the Associate Principal at Mabank High School and as the English and Social Studies Curriculum Director for Corsicana ISD. Most recently, Dr. Otten has been serving in Katy ISD as the GT and Advanced Academics Director.

Otten's educational philosophy revolves around supporting the overall well-being of each student, promoting a positive and cooperative environment, and ensuring the safety of Early ISD students and staff.

"I am looking forward to working alongside dedicated educators and stakeholders to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the broader community," Otten said.

Otten's family includes her husband, Andy, three grown sons, and three grandsons. The board must wait 21 days before offering Otten a contract.
