Drug Dealer Convicted On 10 Felonies, Faces 30 Years In Prison: DA
The Dutchess County District Attorney's Office said that on Monday, a Dutchess County jury convicted 47-year-old Spencer Green, of Poughkeepsie, of five counts of felony third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, four counts of felony third degree criminal sale of of a controlled substance, and one count of felony fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The jury concluded that on several dates in late November and December 6, 2023, at various locations of the Town of Poughkeepsie, Green knowingly and unlawfully possessed cocaine with the intent to sell it, sold the cocaine for money and knowingly and unlawfully possessed more than 500 milligram of cocaine.
"This conviction underscores our unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking in our community," District Attorney Anthony Parisi said. "My office working through out Drug Task Force has been making significant strides to ensure those who profit from the suffering of others face justice. We will continue to work together to prevent drug dealers from upending the sense of safety in our community. I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of my Drug Task Force, the prosecutors in my office, and the jury who held the defendant accountable."
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorneys Heather Ryan and Deputy Unit Chief David Kunca. The trial was conducted in Dutchess County Court before the Honorable Edwads T. McLoughlin, who schedule sentencing for December 18. Green faces up to 30 years in jail.
"Drug trafficking will not be tolerated in Dutchess County, neither by law enforcement nor the people we serve," Dutchess County Drug Task Force Coordinator Adam Harris said. "And together with our partners at the Dutchess District Attorney's Office, the Drug Task Force will continue working toward a county whose neighborhoods are free of illegal narcotics and will continue to pursue those who deal in this poison."
