East Peoria Veterans Day celebrations
EAST PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) — The East Peoria VFW Post #2078 is celebrating central Illinois veterans with two events this Veterans Day weekend.
On Saturday, November 9th the 93rd annual Veterans Day Parade is taking place on West Washington Street in East Peoria at 1:30 p.m. This parade will feature four Navy pilots from the Lima Lima Flight Team flying Warbird aircrafts in an airshow.
This Saturday's event is hoping to raise at least $6,000 to use in next year's parade. To make a donation call the VFW at 309-966-3655.
On Monday, November 11th they will be hosting a Veterans Day Run and Chili Supper. The run starts at 12:30 p.m. at East Peoria High School and it will end at the VFW East Peoria Post #2078 (1507 Meadow Avenue). A chili supper will take place immediately after the run at 4:00 p.m.
Proceeds from Monday's ticket sales will go to the East Peoria Wrestling Team and the VFW. For more information call the VFW at 309-966-3655.
