SHORT HILLS, NJ — Eataly, the global Italian marketplace and retail concept, will be launching its first store in New Jersey this week in the Millburn area.

A grand opening event is scheduled for Eataly's new store at The Mall at Short Hills, 1200 Morris Turnpike at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Spanning just over 17,000 square feet, Eataly Short Hills will feature one restaurant, several "quick service" counters, and a retail section with imported Italian and regional delicacies. There will be 230 seats across the restaurant and bar.

Menu highlights include antipasti like Prosciutto di Parma and "Sicilian Style" calamari fritti with zucchini, primi such as Tagliatelle alla Bolognese with housemade tagliatelle pasta, pork and beef ragù, and 18-Month Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, and secondi from pan-roasted salmon to chicken Milanese. The pizza menu will offer over 10 varieties of Pizza Napoletana by Rossopomodoro, featuring classics like the Margherita Verace and Capricciosa.

Eataly Ristorante will also be offering 100 different labels of Italian wine, spanning all 20 regions of Italy. In addition to the catalogue of wine, guests can choose from an assortment of seasonal cocktails, with a focus on Italian aperitivo, amaro and liqueur.

The Eataly marketplace will feature high-quality artisanal imports such as extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and bronze-extruded pasta. Along with dry goods, the retail space will have a wine shop, fresh products from regional producers, and counters dedicated to salumi and formaggi and fresh pasta – with room for live pasta-making demos.

Eataly's cafè and quick service counters will include "authentic Italian favorites" for guests on-the-go, such as:

  • Caffè Lavazza, an all-day cafè featuring Lavazza coffee drinks
  • La Pasticceria, the pastry counter with cakes, croissants, and other baked goods
  • Il Gelato, with gelato and sorbetto creations made by Eataly chefs
  • Pizza alla Pala, offering a variety of Roman-style pizza
  • Panini, a counter dedicated to focaccia, panini, and farcita
  • "As Eataly continues on an expansion plan to new markets across North America, we are thrilled to make our debut in New Jersey," said Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America.

"Thanks to its impressive roster of retailers and a key location just 19 miles west of Manhattan, The Mall at Short Hills is the right fit for our first store in the state, and we look forward to bringing the Italian lifestyle to our guests," Brusò added.

Eataly currently has 12 North American locations and more than 50 stores worldwide. Since 2023, Investindustrial, a leading independent investment company in Europe, has held a majority ownership stake of 52 percent in the group.
