PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Peoria County Election Commissioners selected two youth winners on Tuesday for the 'I Voted' sticker design contest, which will be used for next year's primary elections.

The contest is in celebration of Peoria County's bicentennial and the 10th anniversary of the county's election commission, both of which will be celebrated next year.

Elizabeth Gannon is the Executive Director of the election commission and said it was nice to see young Peoria County residents showing off their creativity.

"We had a lot of patriotism, a lot of looking into the city of Peoria, so it was great to see all the submissions and the artwork and some of it was very impressive," she said.

The winning design was of fighter jets flying over the sky, while the runner up was a drawing of a bald eagle.

The winning design will be used as the sticker for in-person voting, while online voters will receive the runner-up design.

Gannon believes it'll be a nice touch to next year's elections.

"It shows community involvement and participating in the election process and getting the youth involved in that as well. I think it was a great idea, and we were glad to see so many submissions come in," she said.

There were also three adult submissions that will not be used.
