Elk Grove residents given chance to name new parks and trailhead

(FOX40.COM) — Elk Grove residents have the opportunity to be a part of the naming process for important features of their cities, according to the Cosumnes Community Services District (CCSD). Until 5 p.m. on Dec. 1, community members can submit name suggestions for two neighborhood parks, two pocket parks and one trailhead in Elk Grove. The names should connect with the area's local history, natural features or community members, according to CCSD. The parks being named are located at Whitelock Parkway and Bighorn and Bilby Road and Big Horn Boulevard. Sacramento to host World's Strongest Man competition in 2025 Both pocket parks are located on Alfonso Way and the trailhead is at Horvath Street and Stilwagon Street. Those looking to submit the name of a deceased person must be sure that at least one year has passed since their death for their name to be considered. A family name may not be considered if there is already a site named after them unless there is a direct connection between the site and the person's contributions. Sites will also not be named after a service organization or names with offensive or derogatory connections.
