Evacuations Underway As 4-Alarm Fire Burns In Oakland Hills Interstate highway 580 is shutdown, homes and vegetation are burning as Cal Fire rushes resources to the area.

OAKLAND, CA — A fire burning in the Oakland Hills has quickly gone to four alarms as it burns homes, vegetation, and has forced the shutdown of Interstate Highway 580, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

There have been no reports of injuries.

An evacuation order has been issued for Campus Drive and Cystal Ridge Court.

Dozens of firefighters are on the fire line and more resources are being rushed to the area.

Just an hour ago, the fire department reported that crews were responding to a vegetation fire at I-580 at Keller/Mountain.

Now, four to five homes have burned, with more threatened.

Cal Fire had pre-positioned equipment and air support because of a Red Flag Alert that is in place, called by the National Weather Service due to high winds, low humidity and dry vegetation. That Cal Fire support has arrived at the fire.

Some 80 firefighters are currently battling the flames.

The fire advanced quickly from initial callout to a four alarm fire.
