Evangel faces toughest part of the schedule

J.Martin27 min ago

SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Evangel players will be the first to admit that their schedule hasn't been difficult.

The Valor are unbeaten at 5-0 and ranked 20th in the national NAIA poll.

But all that is about to change.

Evangel will open divisional play Saturday against Bethany.

The Valor will play it's own division of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference from here to the end of the regular season.

The winner of the division will advance to the NAIA playoffs.

That's Evangel's goal.

And their division is top heavy with two of their remaining five games against ranked opponents.

But QB-1 Reid Potts says they're ready.

"I think we definitely recognize that the room for error has shortened. We can't afford a bad practice. We have to come out here and execute everyday. And just really focus on that. I'm focused on winning today at practice. If we can beat them today at practice, we'll win on Saturday. The bye week helped us resettle. Really anything that we've done has not defined us. Like all the work that we put in on the offseason and all that really defines us. We're trying to go 1-0 every week," said Potts.
