Expect I-74/I-75 lane closures, delays as part of Mill Creek Expressway project

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -Expect lane closures and delays this week on I-74/I-75 as the next phase of the Mill Creek Expressway projects is expected to start, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation, ODOT.

ODOT announced that Phase 5B of 14 phases of the $91 million project will commence on Monday.

Below is a list of the full closures:

Monday, October 7:

Closure of the ramp from I-74 West to Beekman Street (Exit 18) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists will be detoured via the Texas Turnaround at the Montana Avenue interchange to I-74 East and Exit 18.

Single-lane (right lane) closure on I-74 East, between the Beekman Street overpass and the Emore Street overpass, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Closure of the ramp from southbound Beekman Street to I-74 East from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists will be detoured via Elmore, Dirr, Dremen, and Beekman streets to I-74 West and the Texas Turnaround at the Montana Avenue exit to I-74 East.

Full closure of Elmore Street, between Colerain Avenue and Dirr Street, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Motorists may detour via Beekman Street.

Tuesday, October 8:

Closure of the ramp from southbound Beekman Street to I-74 East from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists will be detoured via Elmore, Dirr, Dremen, and Beekman streets to I-74 West and the Texas Turnaround at the Montana Avenue exit to I-74 East.

Full closure of Elmore Street, between Colerain Avenue and Dirr Street, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday. Motorists may detour via Beekman Street.

Wednesday, October 9:

Closure of the ramp from I-74 West to Beekman Street (Exit 18) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists will be detoured via the Texas Turnaround at the Montana Avenue interchange to I-74 East and Exit 18.

Single-lane (right lane) closure on I-74 East, between the Beekman Street overpass and the Emore Street overpass, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Closure of the ramp from southbound Beekman Street to I-74 East from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists will be detoured via Elmore, Dirr, Dremen, and Beekman streets to I-74 West and the Texas Turnaround at the Montana Avenue exit to I-74 East.

Thursday, October 10:

Single-lane (left lane) closure on I-74 East, between the Montana Avenue on-ramp and the Elmore Street overpass, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.

Full closure of I-74 East beginning at the North Bend Road interchange between midnight and 4 a.m. Friday, October 10. During closure, traffic will be detoured via North Bend Road, Westwood Northern Boulevard, and the Hopple Street intersection to the I-75/I-74 on-ramps.

Full closure of the following ramps to I-74 East between midnight and 4 a.m. Friday: North Bend Road; Montana Avenue; and Southbound Beekman Street.

Officials say that the I-75 southbound connection to I-74 westbound will be reconfigured, and additional improvements will be made to westbound I-74, including the addition of a through lane on I-74 West between I-75 and the Montana Avenue interchange.

Additionally, a new ramp from I-75 South to I-74 West will be built, and structures over Spring Grove Avenue, Elmore Street, and Beekman Street, as well as a pedestrian overpass, will be renovated. The project will also involve installing new lighting, drainage, a traffic monitoring system, a median barrier, noise walls, signage, and pavement.
