Expect U.S. 23, I-94 closures: Washtenaw County road work for Sept. 20

– Drivers can expect intermittent closures along Washtenaw County freeways this weekend. North and southbound U.S. 23 as well as east and westbound M-14 will close Saturday, Sept. 21 at Nixon Road. The overnight closure begins at 12 a.m. and ends at 6 a.m. Near Ypsilanti, the westbound I-94 ramp will shut down for maintenance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24. Here's a round-up of traffic restrictions and road work affecting commute times and travel across the county for Friday, Sept. 20, and the week ahead.ANN ARBORMain Street: The street is closed in both directions from Research Drive to U.S. 23 until Oct. 4.East William Street bike path: Between South Main Street and South Fifth Avenue, the bikeway will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 27. Crews will be repairing the ceiling of a utility cover.East University Avenue: Between Hill Street and Oakland Avenue, the road is closed through 5 p.m. Sept. 24.Miller Avenue: Miller Avenue is closed between North First Street and North Ashley Street for utility work until Oct. 18.I-94 and State Street: The shoulder of the eastbound and westbound I-94 ramps to State Street is closed. State Street will also have a lane closure in both directions. Construction will be complete Oct. 18.Huron Street: East Huron Street is reduced to one lane from Fifth Avenue to Division Street through Saturday, Sept. 21 – an extended completion date – for utility work. Drivers should expect significant delays.Geddes Avenue: There will be a westbound lane closure of Geddes Avenue between the U.S. 23 ramp and Earhart Road until 5 p.m. Oct. 4 for work on a gas pipeline. The two westbound vehicle lanes of Geddes Avenue in this area have merged into one and shifted to the center lane of the road.Greenview Drive: The street is closed between Scio Church Road and West Stadium Boulevard for a street reconfiguration project through Nov. 15.East Madison Street: Madison is closed between South Main Street and South Division Street for the relocation of a public utility related to the relocation of the University of Michigan's Elbel Field . A completion date is to be determined.East Medical Center Drive Bridge: There will be lane closures on the bridge through Oct. 25 for rehabilitation.Special event closures: The following streets are closed at 4 p.m. Thursdays through 6 a.m. Mondays until on or around Oct. 27 as part of the Main Street Alliance downtown program.Main Street from William to Washington Street West Liberty Street from Ashley to Main streets East Liberty Street from Main to Fourth streets West Washington Street from Ashley to Main streets is closed 24 hours, seven days a week. Some streets will be closed to create a vehicle-free zone around Michigan Stadium during football games on Saturday, Sept. 21 and 28; Oct. 26; and Nov. 2 and 23. South Main Street will close one hour before from Stadium Boulevard to Pauline Street. The following are effective three hours before a game through to the end of a game:East Keech Street between South Main Street and Greene Street will close The westbound right turn lane of East Stadium Boulevard onto South Main Street will close just south of Michigan Stadium There will be limited access to parking permit holders on Greene Street from East Hoover to Keech Avenue. Ann Arbor Township - U.S 23: A single lane is closed on north and southbound U.S. 23 from Huron River Drive to Geddes Road for permit work until Sept. 27Ann Arbor Township - U.S. 23: There will be intermittent shutdowns at Nixon Road from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21. Milan - Plank Road: To rebuild the bridge at U.S. 23, Plank Road is shut down in both directions from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. until Nov. 15.Pittsfield Township - Michigan Avenue: A single lane is closed from Timber Lane to Fosdick Road through Oct. 25.Superior Township - U.S. 23: The shoulder is closed from Huron River Drive to Geddes Road from Monday, Sept. 23 to Thursday, Sept. 26.Ypsilanti Township - I-94: The ramp to westbound Michigan Ave. is closed for maintenance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24.Lyndon Township - Westbourne Court: There are lane restrictions between the cul-de-sac and M-52 through Sept. 27.Lyndon Township - Waterloo Road: There are daytime closures between Lingane Road and Clark Lake Road through Friday, Sept. 20.Manchester - Tracey Road: Between Bowens and Kirk roads, there are lane restrictions from through Sept. 27.Northfield Township - Joy Road: The Joy Road bridge over U.S. 23 is closed indefinitely while crews complete a partial demolition of the overpass that was severely damaged when a semi truck hit it .Pittsfield Township - Platt Road: The road is closed between Waterfowl Boulevard and Michigan Avenue through Oct. 24 – an extended completion date – for Michigan Department of Transportation construction . A detour map is available online.Pittsfield Township subdivisions: There will be lane restrictions in the Mallard Cove Subdivision until Sept. 27 and Lohr Lake Subdivision until Saturday, Sept. 21.Scio Township - Jackson Road: Drivers heading west on Jackson Road will see lane restrictions between Jackson Industrial Drive and Myrtle Avenue through mid-October. There will also be lane restrictions east of Baker Road through early October.Scio Township - Staebler and Park roads: The intersection is closed through late October for culvert installation and road paving. A detour map is available online .Scio Township - Metty Drive: There will be lane restrictions from Sept. 30 to Oct. 8 between Jackson Road and the cul-de-sac for road resurfacing.Scio Township - Dino Drive: There will be lane restrictions between Jackson Road and the cul-de-sac for road resurfacing from Sept. 30 to Oct. 8Scio Township - Parkridge Drive: There will be lane restrictions between Wagner Road and Laurentide Road from Monday, Sept. 23 to Sept. 27.Superior Township - Plymouth Road: There are intermittent lane restrictions between Dixboro Road and Short Street through Sept. 29.Sylvan Township - Brown Drive: There will be lane restrictions between Aspen Boulevard and M-52 through Sept. 27.Sylvan Township - McKernan Road: There will be lane restrictions between the cul-de-sac and M-52 through Sept. 27.Webster Township - Donovan Road: Expect lane restrictions between N. Territorial Road and Merkel Road from Monday, Sept. 23 through Sept. 27.Ypsilanti Township - Ridge Road: The shoulder is closed between Holmes and Mott roads through Sept. 30.Ypsilanti Township - Tyler Road: The road is closed indefinitely between McGregor Road and Airport Road.Ypsilanti Township - Stony Creek Road Bridge: The bridge over Paint Creek is getting replaced . Between Textile Road and Whittaker Road, it is closed until Oct. 25.Ypsilanti Township - Greenfarms Subdivision: There are lane restrictions through Oct. 2.
