Topeka house fire causes $50,000 in damage
TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A fire attributed likely to the "careless discarding of smoking materials" caused $50,000 in damage to a south Topeka home on Thursday.
At 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 20, the Topeka Fire Department (TFD) was called to the 2600 block of Southwest Randolph Court for reports of a fire. Crews found smoke and fire coming from the back of a two-story home.
According to the TFD, crews were able to extinguish the fire and keep it contained in the home. The $50,000 loss was associated with the structural damage. The TFD reported no injuries from the fire.
