Extra Effort: Tremont’s Audrey Parn can play, cheer and get it done in the classroom
TREMONT, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Audrey Parn loves the fall, partly because she's really busy.
The senior plays softball in the spring. But in the fall, she simultaneously a key member of Tremont's volleyball and cheer teams.
"I've been doing this for four years, all three sports," Parn said. "It's second nature. I've been doing it four years. It's a lot of work and stress but at the same time, I wouldn't be doing anything else."
And Parn isn't just busy with athletics. She's a National Honor Society member and on Tremont's student council, helping plan events like the Homecoming parade.
"It's made me responsible. I have places to be and other responsibilities outside of sports," said Parn. "It's opened me up to something different than just being here for sports."
Parn's volleyball season just ended with a loss to Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin in Tuesday's sectional semifinals.
"She's a fantastic student, gets really good grades," said Tremont volleyball coach Tiffany Klaus. "Works hard. She's bubbly, cheerful, driven. She's everything you would want in a (student-athlete)."
Being involved in volleyball, softball, cheerleading and student council, Parn is quite the ambassador for Tremont. She jokes that sometimes she feels like she lives at the high school.
In fact, when she graduates this spring, she thinks it'll be strange not to go back there.
"I'm involved in so much, I'm here all the time," Parn said. "Not being here is going to be really weird."
