‘Feel Like It’s Catching Up’: While Rory McIlroy Enjoys Wentworth, ‘Disappointed’ Shane Lowry Faces His Biggest Villian

Rory McIlroy kept up the charge for his second win of the year at the BMW PGA Championship with a 6 under par in the third round. This takes him to T2 with Billy Horschel with a total score of 15 under. Fellow Irishman Shane Lowry hasn't enjoyed his time at Wentworth as much, however, and sits at T25.

In an interview, Lowry seemed to be battling abject frustration with a season that has yielded him only one win. He said, "That's the story of the season, I want wins and I'm not getting them and it's frustrating." Although not a bad year by any means, Lowry won the Zurich Classic with Rory McIlroy this year and has 7 top-10 finishes.

But his frustration may be coming from a physical standpoint. Lowry has been rather busy these past few months and is also playing several events after this one. Addressing the toll the packed schedule has had on him, he said, "Lot of golf the last two months and I feel like it's catching up with me, I'm disappointed, but what can you do,". He still has to play in Spain, Scotland and the UAE before the end of the year.

Although he has only one win this year as mentioned before, Lowry has had some very good finishes. In the Irish Open he finished T12 and, in the British Open and the US PGA Championship, he finished 6 . But the 12-time DP Tour winner is still chasing his second win of the season. That win may have been on the cards at Wentworth but that is not how things turned out for Shane Lowry.

Shane Lowry disappoints after one good round After scoring a 67 alongside Rory McIlroy in the first round at Wentworth Golf Club, Shane Lowry faltered in the other rounds. In the second and third rounds he scored 71 while McIlroy scored 68 and 66 to climb to T2.

Although not a bad score by any means, he is some distance from the top. He seemed extremely fatigued after the third round and he said as much, saying, "I'm done, the tournament is over for me, I'm just going out there to shoot as good a score as I can tomorrow."

With much more golf to come from Shane Lowry this year, he will be hoping to end the BMW PGA Championship with a respectable score so that he can recover and take the confidence into Spain.
