Fernando’s, popular Redondo Beach boutique, closes after 43 years

The owner of a custom fashion boutique in Redondo Beach is calling it quits after 43 years.

Fernando Adames moved his shop from Hermosa Beach to its current Catalina Ave. location 12 years ago, but he's been making custom jean jackets and other goods for decades.

"43 years playing," he told KNX News' Karen Adams. "I don't call it work, because it was kind of fun, but it is time to enjoy life."

He says he still plans to make his one-of-a-kind custom jackets from home, but on a much smaller scale. His main priority now is traveling with his wife Renessa and their little dog Lola.

"First U.S. parks – we have to go to Utah, Arizona, Colorado, all those beautiful places," he said. "And then we figured maybe we go out of the country."

Adames says they'll be closing up shop around Dec. 20.
