Fire destroys home in Northern Cincinnati suburbs

WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - Fire destroyed a home in the northern Cincinnati suburbs overnight, leaving only the chimney and foundation visible.

It happened in the 9000 block of Kunker Road in Harlan Township, a small community of just under 5,000 residents in the southeast corner of Warren County.

A neighbor or passerby reported the blaze to county's 911 center shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, according to Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District Chief Drew Wysong, commander of the fire scene.

No one was home when flames broke out because the residents are out of town, he said.

The home was fully engulfed when firefighters from multiple agencies arrived.

Fire crews had to bring in water on tanker trucks because there are no fire hydrants in the "very rural" area, according to Chief Wysong.

The cause remains under investigation. It's not even clear yet where the flames originated in the home, he said.

The Warren County Fire Investigation Team is now on the scene along with fire crews from Harlan, Hamilton and Salem townships in addition to the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
