Former President Barack Obama to campaign for VP Kamala Harris in Detroit on Tuesday

E.Wright30 min ago

Former President Barack Obama will campaign in Detroit on Tuesday for Vice President Kamala Harris, her presidential campaign announced Wednesday.

It's the latest in a wave of visits to Michigan by presidential candidates and their surrogates as polls show a close contest between Harris and former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, in the key battleground state of Michigan.

Obama's visit to Detroit will coincide with the start of early voting and he will encourage Harris supporters to vote early, the campaign said. Further details were not immediately released.

Obama, who has high popularity among Democrats in Detroit and Michigan, campaigned in Detroit for Michigan Democrats just ahead of the November 2022 election.

Harris was in Detroit on Tuesday and Trump was in Detroit on Friday. Both Trump and Harris are to campaign in Michigan this coming Friday.
