Fort Pierce man's trip to convenience store visit leads to $1 million lottery win
A trip to the convenience store changed a Fort Pierce man's life after scratching a $1 million lottery ticket.
The Florida Lottery announced on Thursday that Edis Gutierrez Garciaclaimed a $1 million prize from the 500X The Cash scratch-off game.
Lottery officials saidGarcia bought his winning ticket at the Town Star Convenience Store at 6602 Midway Road. With a1-in-4.23 chance of winning, Garcia realized his $50 ticket held the $1 million prize.
Officials saidGarcia chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000. The convenience store will receive a$2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
