Fresno city leaders have right person to be the next police chief | Opinion
Name Mindy Casto Fresno's police chief
Interim police Chief Mindy Casto should be given the opportunity to become the permanent chief for the city of Fresno.
Why do we need to spend the time and money for next several months looking for someone outside the department when you already have the talent?

Make Fresno State game experience better
In the last year I have attended Fresno State volleyball, plus men's and women's basketball. These games, seems to me, have an attitude that we are lucky to attend these nonmemorable contests.
Every child that attends a day gameshould be given a simple 8.5 x 11 pic of the team they can sign.
Anytime the game stops, they should have crowd games. The room should never be quiet. Post a QR code for feedback and suggestions. Interactive games using phones Giveaways!
They should have contests where the fraternities compete against each other to get students to games. Offer buy one get one kid free pass to games. Reach out to high school teams, have them play or perform skills. Have a junor high day and let it be free for every kid wearing a jersey or red shirt.
If you want the city to pass a tax to build facilities, quit selling us games; build relationships with the people that come. Make the games the highlight of the month for a kid and something families want to attend. Be excellent at entertaining regardless of winning. Serve your fans.

Blacks committed to a more perfect union
The Bee published a well written essay by Andrew Fiala about US citizens who threaten they will leave America if Donald Trump is not elected president. My quick response is: Goodbye!
African Americans have believed in the promise of America since arriving to North America in 1526. Prior to getting our full citizenship after the Civil War, we have always fought for our civil and economic freedoms.
Once gaining citizenship, our fight for freedom has always been to create a more perfect multiracial, multiethnic, multicultural, multiblended and multigender democratic America.
The fact that a multicultural African American women ran for president under the banner of the Democratic party clearly says that African Americans are not leaving America, we are still fighting to create a more perfect and just union.

Embrace a plant-based diet
There is a problem with our food systems. The recent E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's quarter pounder hamburgers has led to illness, hospitalization, and even death.
The CDC, FDA, and other health agencies are investigating, with fresh slivered onions and quarter pound beef patties as the suspected sources of contamination.
This isn't the first time we've seen outbreaks linked to meat-based products, and it underscores a larger issue with food safety in animal agriculture.
There is a better way. By embracing a plant-based diet, we can avoid these risks and enjoy delicious foods that are not only safe but also optimum for human health, the planet, and the animals. Now is the time to explore plant-based alternatives and make compassionate choices for a better future.
