Gary Palmer reelected as 6th Congressional District representative

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) – Alabama's 6th Congressional District Representative Gary Palmer has been elected to serve another term, according to The Associated Press.

Palmer served as president of the Alabama Policy Institute for 24 years, during which the institute became a full-spectrum public policy organization involved in nearly every policy issue impacting Alabama residents. He was also a founding member of the State Policy Network, which now has 65 member organizations.

Palmer was appointed to the Welfare Reform Commission by Governor Fob James, and he served as an advisor to Governor James' Aerospace, Science and Technology Task Force. He was on the Task Force to Strengthen Alabama Families by Governor Bob Riley, and he served on the Alabama Commission on Improving State Government under Governor Robert Bentley.

He was elected to Congress in 2014, and he currently serves on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Subcommittees on Energy, Environment and Climate change and Oversight and Investigations.

Palmer serves as the Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee.
