Goldsboro man indicted on second-degree murder and other charges

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — On Tuesday, DA Scott Thomas announced that Cody Schulz was indicted on multiple charges including second-degree murder relating to a car crash that happened on March 3.

The collision happened in Morehead City. One victim died as a result of the crash and three other victims had serious injuries.

Schulz was indicted for the following charges:

felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle

possession of firearm by a felon

reckless driving

failure to stop at a red light

driving while license revoked

open container

possession of marijuana up to one half ounces

Schulz was charged on March 3 and has remained in custody since then.

It's shocking video of an elderly man being throw to the ground and handcuffed during a traffic stop. Video of the exchange between the officer and driver involved in the traffic sop was released by police. An arrest report gives more details about what occurred before a man was shot to death Wednesday in the 3200 block of West Edgewood Avenue. Investigators observed surveillance video that showed the victim driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro with orange rims at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road, according to the JSO arrest report for Lavertis Reed, 20, who was charged with murder in the shooting. As the victim's vehicle crossed the intersection, a white vehicle with dark rims was observed on the surveillance video driving south at a high rate of speed on New Kings Road, the arrest report states.

A senior police officer warned Tuesday of calls for more rioting in Amsterdam, after dozens of people armed with sticks and firecrackers set a tram on fire Monday night and the city faces tensions following violence last week targeting fans of an Israeli soccer club. Olivier Dutilh, of the Amsterdam police force, told a court hearing that "we have signals that there are calls for similar" unrest in the west of the city.
