The sixth and final $100 a month energy credit in the current round of direct assistance to Guam Power Authority customers has been applied and was posted on Monday night.

The series of six $100 credits was made possible through the Prugråman Ayuda Para I Taotao-ta Energy Credit program, which made $600 in energy credits available.

GPA, in a statement, said it has uploaded the final energy credit for September to all active residential and multi-family master meter accounts. GPA is working to reconcile balances and funding needed to apply credits to all remaining active accounts for the month of September.

Another bill from Sen. William Parkinson seeks to extend it through the holidays, October to December, using $15.8 million in unobligated excess revenue from fiscal 2024.

The energy credit program represents a $130 million investment, providing significant financial relief to households and businesses facing rising costs of living. The latest monthly installment totals $5.276 million.

The program started in July 2022 and has been extended since then through separate legislation by Sen. Joe S. San Agustin, Speaker Therese Terlaje and Parkinson.

GPA General Manager John M. Benavente thanked the Leon Guerrero-Tenorio administration and senators from the 37th Guam Legislature for their ongoing support in making the credits available to customers.

"We remind customers that the September credit is the last in this series of direct assistance under Public Law 37-104. To help reduce consumption and save on October power bills, we encourage customers to continue to 'Beat the Peak' during the peak demand hours of 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. by turning off water heaters and other appliances," Benavente said.

GPA customers can view the credit in their online accounts or their next billing statement.
