Nov. 7—CUMBERLAND — An injured hunter in Grant County, West Virginia, is recovering at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, after being rescued Tuesday in a hoist mission by the Maryland State Police Trooper 5 helicopter crew based at the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport.
The injured hunter was rescued from a remote location after he fell from a tree stand and suffered serious injuries, authorities said.
The hoist mission was performed due to the nature of the man's injuries, the remote location and the amount of time extrication would have required by first responders on the ground, according to the state police Aviation Division.
